Scenic Vermont Backyard Wedding | New England Wedding Photographer
This Scenic Vermont backyard wedding was one for the books! Molly and Simon were married in Bennington, Vermont, at Simon’s father’s house, with a stunning mountain view even most wedding venues can’t beat. Because of Simon’s military career, the couple was preparing to move across the world to Japan only days after their wedding! So this beautiful day acted as a special farewell to all their East Coast family and friends. Molly and Simons wedding day was full of love, bittersweet goodbyes, and the excitement of a new adventure.
Molly’s bridesmaids each brought a special pop of color to the day by all wearing mismatched dresses. Not only did their colors tie together the color scheme of the wedding, it also made the photos more colorful and unique.
Molly and Simon chose to do their first look and wedding party portraits in front of this classic red covered bridge. The beautiful backdrop fit the color scheme of their day perfectly, but also paid homage to their home state of Vermont.
The ceremony took place in the backyard of Simon’s childhood home blending together old memories of the past with promises of the future. In front of the rolling mountains of Vermont, the blooming trees mixed with the scattered dandelions throughout the yard. It was a spring day, but the flowering trees had all the rich colors of fall, making this scene something out of a painting.
After the ceremony, we took advantage of the stunning view for more portraits. The mountain backdrop was like a scene from a postcard. Molly and Simon couldn’t have chosen a more beautiful wedding location.
The scenic Vermont backyard wedding reception was full of cheerful excitement for the couples future. Every detail tied together warm color tones and opportunity to preserve memories. Guests were encouraged to take polaroids of themselves and decorate and sign their own section of a quilt. The quilt would then be sewn together as a physical memory of their wedding and cherished forever! In return every guest was given a package of flower seeds to plant as their own memory of the day.
Even their wedding cake tied together old memories and the new. It featured both the Vermont mountains of home and the mountains of Japan, where they soon would be moving! Every detail of their day was carefully planned and beautifully executed.
Molly and Simon’s scenic Vermont backyard wedding was so special. Hosting their wedding at a family home made the event incredibly intimate and personal. Because of the location, every photo taken that day holds sentimental value. It was such a privilege to capture these memories that I know will be cherished for years to come.
