Spring Arnold Arboretum Engagement Session
Session LOCATION: Boston, MA
Claire and Connor had the most incredible spring Arnold Arboretum engagement session. Spring is when the Arnold Arboretum becomes truly otherworldly. The park bursts into color as the trees bloom, transforming into a dreamscape of soft petals and golden light. During their session, the golden hour glow filtered through layers of vibrant spring flowers, creating a scene that felt like something out of a fairytale.
The Arnold Arboretum, located in Jamaica Plain, is one of Boston’s most breathtaking engagement session locations. This 281-acre living museum, operated by Harvard University, is home to over 17,000 plants and trees. It’s both a public park and a botanical research institution, a place where beauty and science coexist.
Even though it’s only minutes from downtown Boston, the Arboretum feels worlds away. The quiet paths, lush meadows, and blooming gardens create an immersive, peaceful experience that’s perfect for couples who want to be surrounded by nature. The park’s sprawling size means that even during busy weekends, there are always quiet, scenic spots for intimate photos. From the vibrant gardens to the serene forest paths, every corner of the Arboretum offers a new opportunity for stunning imagery.
Spring is undoubtedly the Arboretum’s most enchanting season. In late March and early April, magnolias burst into bloom, followed by witch hazel and azaleas. By mid to late April, the cherry blossoms, crab apples, dogwoods, dove trees, rhododendrons, and clematis take center stage. Claire and Connor’s spring Arnold Arboretum engagement session took place in mid-May, when many of the spring blooms were still at their peak. Every corner of the Arnold Arboretum felt alive with color, the perfect setting for capturing their love story.
The Photographer lens:
For their spring Arnold Arboretum engagement session, Claire and Connor wanted something natural and documentary-style. Instead of posed portraits, I followed them as they wandered through the park laughing, twirling, and stealing quiet moments together. Their chemistry was effortless, and the setting amplified their connection in the most cinematic way. Using the vibrant spring palette bathed in dreamy golden hour light, I created images that felt warm, whimsical, and full of life.
