Herreshoff Marine Museum Wedding
WEDDING LOCATION: Bristol, RI
Tabitha and Jake’s Herreshoff Marine Museum wedding was the perfect blend of maritime charm and coastal elegance. Located in Bristol, Rhode Island, the Herreshoff Marine Museum is a premier Rhode Island coastal wedding venue for couples dreaming of a celebration by the sea. Overlooking Narragansett Bay, this maritime museum wedding venue offers breathtaking harbor views, historic sailboats, and that quintessential New England coastal atmosphere.
Tabitha and her bridesmaids spent the morning getting ready at a charming Airbnb steps away from the venue. In contrast, the groomsmen got ready in the museum’s iconic Hall of Boats, surrounded by the museum’s extraordinary collection of antique boats and sailing vessels. It was such a unique backdrop for wedding day preparations. Since the couple chose not to do a first look, we captured separate wedding party and family portraits before the ceremony, giving us extra time later in the day for relaxed, golden-hour portraits along the docks.
Their Herreshoff Marine Museum wedding ceremony took place right on the harbor dock, overlooking the sparkling waters of Bristol Harbor. Under the warm August sun, Tabitha and Jake exchanged heartfelt vows as their loved ones looked on. After the ceremony, we wandered along the museum’s docks, taking full advantage of the coastal scenery for portraits. The late summer light was absolutely magical, casting a golden glow across the water as the newlyweds shared quiet, joy-filled moments.
The Herreshoff Marine Museum wedding reception took place under a sailcloth tent, with a magnificent vintage sailboat on display, tying together the maritime theme of the day. Their first dance was pure romance, Jake twirling Tabitha as their guests cheered them on. The night ended with emotional toasts, joyful dancing, and a sunset that painted the sky in vibrant pinks, oranges, and golds. It was the perfect close to a perfect coastal celebration.
The Photographer lens:
Tabitha and Jake wanted wedding photos that captured the unique character of the Herreshoff Marine Museum while still feeling timeless, elegant, and true to their love story. From the moment I arrived, I was inspired by how this Rhode Island coastal wedding venue effortlessly merges history, craftsmanship, and oceanfront beauty. I leaned into the bright August sunlight and the reflective coastal tones to create images that felt warm, happy, and full of emotion. During their portraits, I wanted to showcase not just the stunning maritime backdrop, but also the way Tabitha and Jake look at each other, with pure joy and connection. Surrounded by sea air and laughter, this Herreshoff Marine Museum wedding felt like the essence of summer in New England, nostalgic, carefree, and beautifully timeless.
"We had such a great experience working with Katarina. From start to finish she was incredibly organized and helped us put together a timeline that helped the whole day run smoothly. We're not the most natural in front of the camera, but Katarina made us feel so comfortable and gave us direction the whole time. She was also super flexible with the flow of the day, which we really appreciated. Weddings can be a little unpredictable, and her calm and accommodating attitude made a big difference. On top of all that, she went above and beyond by getting us a sneak peek of our photos within a day. We truly appreciate all of Katarina's hard work and talent. We would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a photographer who is professional, kind, and genuinely passionate about what she does."
