Larz Anderson Park Engagement | Romantic Fall Session in Brookline, MA
Karen and Ben’s Larz Anderson Park engagement session was pure magic from the very first moment. We were gifted one of those perfect early fall days, the kind where the air feels crisp, the light is soft, and the leaves are just beginning to turn. Hints of orange and golden yellow danced through the trees, creating the dreamiest backdrop for their romantic portraits. The park felt calm and quiet, and for most of the session, it truly felt like we had this stunning Brookline gem all to ourselves.
Karen and Ben are the sweetest, most tender pair. The way they naturally leaned into each other, laughed softly between moments, and soaked in the peaceful atmosphere made this Larz Anderson Park engagement feel effortless and intimate. From the start, I knew this session would be something special.

Why Larz Anderson Park Is Perfect for an Engagement Session
A Larz Anderson Park engagement offers everything couples love about classic Boston photo locations, without the crowds. Located in Brookline, this 64-acre park is one of the most scenic and versatile engagement session spots in the area. With rolling hills, willow trees, a scenic pond, historic architecture, and skyline views, it truly feels like a hidden oasis just outside the city.
While the Boston Public Garden is iconic, it can become extremely crowded, especially during peak seasons. Larz Anderson Park offers a more peaceful, romantic atmosphere where couples can relax, move freely, and truly enjoy their session without distractions.
Some of the standout features that make a Larz Anderson Park engagement so unique include:
- Scenic pond with charming bridges
- Weeping willow trees lining the water
- A dramatic iron entrance gate covered in ivy
- The historic Temple of Love stone gazebo
- Open green fields with views of the Boston skyline
- Flowering trees and vibrant fall foliage
This variety allows us to create a gallery that feels dynamic, elegant, and full of movement.

The History Behind Larz Anderson Park
Part of what makes aLarz Anderson Park engagementso meaningful is the rich history woven into the landscape. The land dates back to the Revolutionary War, when it belonged to the Goddard family. In the 1800s, William Fletcher Weld transformed the property into his country estate, “Windy Top.” Later, Isabel Weld Anderson and Larz Anderson acquired the land and added many of the architectural elements that still give the park its charm today.
They built a grand mansion overlooking the Boston skyline, along with beautiful structures throughout the grounds. While the mansion was eventually torn down, the Carriage House and the iconic Temple of Love remain, serving as timeless reminders of the elegance and legacy of the Andersons. These historic details add depth, character, and old-world romance to every Larz Anderson Park engagement session.

Karen & Ben’s Romantic Fall Engagement
For Karen and Ben’s Larz Anderson Park engagement, we explored both sides of the park to experience everything it has to offer. We started on the hilltop, surrounded by maple and oak trees, overlooking the Boston
Afterwards, we traveled to the other side of the park to find the pond where willow trees framed the water. We had to take advantage of the cutest little bridge made the perfect romantic setting. From there, we moved to the grand iron entrance gate, where ivy had turned a fiery shade of orange. The contrast of the foliage against the dark iron created such a dramatic, elegant look.
Next, we wandered to the Temple of Love, the stone gazebo perched right on the water’s edge. Flowers from a ceremony earlier that day still decorated the space, adding a soft, romantic touch. Ben gently helped Karen down the steps toward the water for some of the most intimate portraits of the day.
We ended the session surrounded by glowing fall foliage. Oak and maple trees were just beginning to turn, creating that dreamy autumn color palette that makes a Larz Anderson Park engagement in the fall so breathtaking.
